Caroline + Alejandra
This holiday season, we wanted to celebrate real people and their stories. Get to know Caroline and her best friend Alejandra, the first of our relationship series.
Describe your relationship with each other.
(Caroline): We are the exact opposite when it comes to everything! But for some reason, she always understands me. We understand each other so well that even with just one look, I know what she has in mind–and it's the same for her.
Your fave memory together?
(Caroline): It's hard to pick just one but, for my birthday this year, I decided to go for a haircut and it ended up being pretty much the opposite of what I had asked for. Ale came to my place and we ordered sushi and a bottle of wine – it turned out to be the best birthday in years. She's the kind of person that makes you feel happier instantly.
Your first piece of jewelry?
(Caroline): My dad had a baby ring with his initials and birthstone on it; I remember stealing it from my mom's jewelry box and wearing it on my pinky when I was maybe 5 or 6 years old. I was so sad when I got older and it didn't fit anymore!
(Alejandra): It was a gold ring from my godfather for my first communion.
What’s your style?
(Caroline): I'm definitely more of a minimalist, but I've been incorporating a bit more colour into my wardrobe recently.
(Alejandra): I love big earrings, and as many rings and bracelets that I can get!
What you love about your Mejuri piece?
(Caroline): I love that I can wear all of them at the same time and it never looks overwhelming. I mix the metal tones, I layer them, I switch them on my fingers – they're just so versatile!
How you feel when giving/receiving jewelry?
(Caroline): I think giving jewelry is one of the things I like most. My sister and I have gifted so many pieces of jewelry to each other over the years! Jewelry is something I love buying for others and, of course, something I love receiving too!
(Alejandra): I think it is a very personal gift, I love to celebrate loved ones with pretty rings and, of course, I feel great when someone surprises me with a pair of earrings!
Your relationship with jewelry?
(Caroline): It's something I've always been attracted to. I've worn everything you can think of: hoops, studs, rings, necklaces, bracelets, ankle bracelets... everything! It instantly dresses up or down any outfit depending on what piece of jewelry you choose!
